Sunday School, July 19th

Our Lesson this week dealt with Common Sense and when it isn't enough. Our lesson was found in James 1:1-18.

1. To Endure Trials (James 1:2-8)
2. To Put Wealth into Perspective (James 1:9-11)
3. To Resist Temptations (James 1: 13-15)
4. To Acknowledge God's Gifts (James 1:12, 16-18)

Try to think this week about all of the ways God has blessed you and thank him for them. Don't forget to e-mail someone you haven't seen at Sunday School, church, or in general in awhile and tell them you have missed them, this week.

A couple of notes:
Prayer Requests:
Cambrie surgery on Tuesday, Adam and Kimberly (Keep them all in your prayers)
Bill Tinsley traveling for 2 weeks
Heather Tinsley meeting with her sister next Sunday
Micah Roberson's back
Dustin O'Connells grandmother
Andy Turner's grandad

Let me know if Sunday afternoon, August 23rd will work for everyone for PAINTBALL. This gives us over a month to arrange and plan this. If I get a good response, I will call and set this up this week.

Men's Bible Study began yesterday and will continue this Saturday. We will meet at the church in the FLC foyer at 7:00 AM. Again, we are doing the Tony Dungy study entitled, Quiet Strength.

If you have an e-mail address that needs to go on our distribution list, please e-mail that to me and I will forward it to Bill who is going to update it for us.

Hope everyone has a great week!!

Sunday School for June 21, 2009

This week our lesson is about Living By the Gospel. It will be helpful for you to be prepared by reading Galatians 3:26-4:31. Also, think about the following:

Can all adults learn? I see this type of question in education all the time pertaining to students. When you look at a school's mission statement most state something in regards to all students can or will learn and then they give reasons why. As Christians we need to learn more about the bible and grow as believers through prayer, bible study, and reflection on our relationship with Christ. However, not all believers recognize they need to learn more about the gospel or don't want to unfortunately. They do not participate in regular bible study or if they attend to not actively participate. Still others study and learn more but never use what they learn to help them or others grow. Do we think we are OK as believers and we are through growing? Is God satisfied with us? Think about areas this week in which you need to grow.

Guys going on the golf retreat, don't forget to meet at the church in the back parking lot at 6:15. Breakfast will be waiting on you!

Also, don't forget about the Game Night at the Tinsley's July 11th. We can get a list of babysitters if anyone needs them. Don't forget to think about couples you could invite as we will use this for outreach as well.

Have a Great Week!

Sunday School May 24, 2009

We had a GREAT time in Sunday School this morning. For those of you out of town or sick we discussed the info. that I sent out through e-mail. We are going to give this another week and discuss more next Sunday. As of right now our name is the Holding Fast Class unless anyone has any objections or suggestions. We still need to come up with a Theme Scripture to go with that though. Our Target group we said is ages 25-35, unless anyone thinks we should lower or raise.
We also discussed prayer and its importance in our class and our lives. We talked about our prayer groups, and how we can improve on reaching prospects . We want to be an open group.
Another thing to think about is who is a prospect for our class and being on the lookout for those we can invite to become a part of our great group!!
If you missed this morning, here were the prayer requests:
Vacation Bible School- All those involved and the children we will be able to touch.
Ronald McDonald- Tuesday night at 5:00. Pray for those going, and the lives we will touch.
Jason and Aby and Parker- Aby goes back on Friday to meet with the doctor if he is not here.
Michelle Barnett- Continue to pray for her job situation.
Nick Woodley's grandmother passed away. Continue to pray for Nick and his family during this time.
Kimberly, Adam, and Cambrie Tyson. Cambrie's surgeries Tuesday.
Kimberly Tyson's friends baby boy. He was born with heart issues.
Ryan Bivins. Continue to pray for Ryan's recovery from his accident.
Brandon Byars. Brent's brother having knee surgery Thursday.

Something To Think About

Prayer

In Bible Study, we get to know God and listen to him, but prayer is our opportunity to communicate with God. When we approach God, we should approach Him as our Lord AND as our friend. We know that God knows everything about us, so there should be no holding back. Why should we hide things from him.

Our challenge this week is to pray like we never have before, being real, relaxed, and telling all, while listening to what God has to say in return. When is the last time you really had time alone with God, earnestly praying, being still and listening?

Easter

Please remember to lift each other up daily!

Because of the Lord's great love, we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning. Great is YOUR faithfulness." Lamentations: 3:22-23

A friend shared this verse today and I wanted to share it with you! Our God is so Mighty, Whatever you are going through, Know that Jesus Conquered the GRAVE! What hope he brings to us all! What ever you are fighting!
